1. How do you mount it in the ground?
Installation usually takes about an hour. The kit includes the ground sleeve, made of ABS plastic, which holds up to the weather much better than PVC pipe. Dig a fence-post-size hole 28" deep and 14" in diameter. You'll need about 240 lbs of concrete and a little pea gravel (4" at the bottom of the hole). Detailed instructions with pictures are included.
2. What winds will it stand up to?
Our 20' and 25' heavy-duty poles are good in winds up to 95 mph with up to two flags no larger than 4'x6'. Our 15' and 20' Light Duty poles are good in winds up to 75 mph with up to two flags no larger than 3'x5'.
3. What's included in the telescoping flagpole kit?
Everything except the concrete: the assembled telescoping flagpole, a premium nylon U.S. flag with sewn stars and reinforced box stitching on the fly end (4'x6' for 20' and 25' poles; 3'x5' for 15' and 20' Light Duty), the gold ball ornament, and the ground sleeve. Every pole is ready to fly up to two flags.
4. What's the difference between the 20' and the 20' Light Duty?
20': installed height 20'. Rated for 95 mph winds. 3.0" base, 12-gauge wall. 4 sections (3 joints). Comes with a premium 4'x6' nylon U.S. flag.
20' Light Duty: installed height 18.5'. Rated for 75 mph winds. 2.5" base, 14-gauge wall. 3 sections (2 joints). Comes with a premium 3'x5' nylon U.S. flag.
5. Other features and benefits
Tubes: anodized aluminum won't rust, scratch or chip like a painted or powder-coated pole. The base section of the 20' and 25' poles is 3" in diameter with a 12-gauge wall; the 15' and 20' Light Duty poles are 2.5" with a 14-gauge wall.
Swivel rings: every pole can fly two flags. The flags attach to spring clips on a swivel ring system that lets them turn 360° around the pole, which helps prevent wrapping.
Interlocking sleeves: the 3" internal interlocking sleeve is a polycarbonate/polybutylene (PC + PBT) blend known for impact strength, heat resistance and weatherability. The 2" and 2.5" sleeves are TRIREX polycarbonate, known for impact resistance, temperature resistance and dimensional stability.
Half-staff: move the flag from the top position to the lower position and extend the pole fully. You're at a perfect half-staff.
Mobility: only the ground sleeve is permanently installed, so you can take the pole with you if you move, or to a campsite or tailgate (mounts are available). If extreme weather is coming, pull the pole out of the sleeve and store it until it passes.
6. What makes it better than other telescoping flagpoles?
The patented internal interlocking sleeve that raises, lowers and locks each section. It makes each section easy to raise and lower and very stable once locked. Most others use screw-in or push-button joints, which tend to be less reliable over time in the wind or simply wear out.
7. Why a telescoping flagpole instead of a solid one?
You never have to get to the top of the pole again; the top comes down to you. No more replacing rope, fixing pulleys, or climbing to add an ornament. Telescoping poles also win on price, ease of use and mobility.
